DropTine Ranch in not just about hunting. The ranch, lodge and amenities where set up with leisure time in mind as well. The ranch is just 15 minutes from the town of Fredericksburg which hosts about 1.5 million visitors each year. There are many festivals, parades and events year round and with the burgeoning Texas wine industry, several museums and the fantastic old west architecture of the town it is one of the top destinations in the state of Texas. There are many bars and restaurants with live music every weekend and we have the famous Hilltop Restaurant just a few minutes away with live music and a great wine list and its literally located in the middle of nowhere!
The ranch is located in historic Cherry Spring with several notable Texas Historical landmarks surrounding the ranch. You have the Marschall Cemetery across the way which was erected by and for the family of the man who negotiated the settlement of Fredericksburg with the Comanche Indians. This was Indian country not Mexican Country. The early settlers were mostly German and a well know settler built the Mansfield Ranch next door and a fabulous Lutheran church back in 1860 and still has Sunday service. Finally there is the old school house built around the same time which also needs to be visited as well. All of this is located in a very quite and peaceful setting in the middle of the countryside.
During the spring this area is famous for its wild flowers including the Bluebonnets that Ladybird Johnson made so famous in the hill country. The Lyndon B Johnson state park is located a short drive east of Fredericksburg and is worth visiting as well.
